CUTLER, Lysander. Union gen. c. 1806 - 66. He was commissioned Col. 6th Wis. 16 July '61 and commanded 3, 3, I (13 Mar. 4 Apr. '62); 3d, King's Div., I, Rappahannock; and 4, 1, I (5-26 Nov. '62) before being promoted B.G. USV 29 Nov. '62. In the Army of the Potomac he led 2, 1, I (25 Mar. - 15 July '63); 1st Div., I (15 July - 5 Aug. '63, 23 Sept. - 13 Nov. '63, 13 Nov. '63 - 14 Jan. '64, 10 Feb. - 20 Mar. '64); 1, 4, V (25 Mar. - 6 May '64) and 4th Div., V (6 May - 24 Aug. '64). Breveted Maj. Gen. USV 19 Aug. '64, he resigned 30 June '65, having been wounded twice in action. |

BRAGG, Edward Stuyvesant. Union gen. 1827 - ? N.Y. A public office holder, he was commissioned Capt. 6th Wis. (part of the iron brigade) 16 July '61 and promoted Maj. 17 Sept. '61. He was named Lt. Col. 21 June '62, Col. 24 Mar. '63 and B.G. USV 25 June '64. With his regiment he saw action in all the campaigns of the Army of the Potomac except the Peninsular. In the V Corps he led 3, 3d Div. (24 Aug. -13 Sept. '64); 1, 3d Div. (13 Sept. - 22 Dec. '64 and 18 Jan. - 14 Feb. '65); 1, 4th Div. (7 June - 24 Aug. '64); and 3, 4th Div. (6 May - 6 June '64). He was mustered out 9 Oct. '65 and became a prominent Democrat, attending many national conventions. He was famous for the phrase he used in seconding Cleveland's nomination in 1884: " We love him for the enemies he has made." A Congressman, he was also Minister to Mexico 1888-89 and Consul General to Havana in 1902 and to Hong Kong 1902-06. |

It is interesting to note that two of the four colonels
of the regiment began their service in Company K- Rufus Dawes
as Captain and John Kellogg as 1st Lieutenant. Also that three
of the four served as company commanders- Bragg, Company A; Dawes,
Company K; and Kellogg, Company I.
